The healthcare every person deserves.

Policy, Research and Education

Women’s Health Services has created a Department of Policy, Research, and Education.  Our goal at Women’s Health Services is to incorporate sex and gender informed best practices into the our five component model (direct services, research, professional education, leadership, and community outreach) and the development of a women-centered medical home.  WHS is focused on becoming a nationally recognized center on sex and gender medicine and the application of evidence-based research in the delivery of health care to women and families in New Mexico.

The long-term outcomes of Policy, Research, and Education at WHS focus on:

  • Increase the knowledge base of women’s health sex and gender medicine at Women’s Health Services, Santa Fe, the surrounding communities, and New Mexico.
  • Implementation of evidence-based prevention and intervention programs and strategies for women that include the integration of healthcare, social, and supportive services.
  • Creation of healthier communities with a more integrated and coordinated women’s health delivery system.
  • Elimination of  health disparities for women who are underserved as a result of age, gender, race/ethnicity, education, income, and disability in Santa Fe, surrounding communities, and New Mexico.
  • Increase access for women in Santa Fe and the surrounding communities to chronic disease management programs and behavioral health treatment at WHS.
  • Increase the number of successful women’s health programs in communities across the country that may be interested in replicating WHS’ model.
